The main signal types of ILGRadio database
ILGRadio - What´s in the Database for signals
ALE Signals:
The most intersting thing are the ALE transmissions "ALE Automatic Link Establishment MIL-STD-188-141".
Here you can receive thousand of stations and special software is able to give the ID (Identification) call
sign which gives in most cases the transmitter site, fixed or mobile (e.g. vessel or aircraft).
The most popular software SORCERER which display the date, time and call ID.
These signals are running for a few seconds and are on the air between minutes and many hours.
The new alternative to SORCERER is the KIWI SDR remote receiver option:
go on right selection "extension" and select "ALE_2G". On the left side a new window (grey
colour) is opening and here you can select a scanner function when selecting the various
ALE networks of "Amateur", "Govt", "Milcom" or "Utility". Here you can select the whole network
or a single frequency of this network.
You can also select nothing and put in your own frequency on the right side. Here you must give
the frequency "FREQ" of ILGRadio database and never the CFFREQ of ILGRadio !
If you set filter in ILGRadio database with CALL sign you will find at once all transmitter data.
In most cases it is ok to use the first 3-4 symbols for long ALE ID calls.

HFDL Signals:
Further interesting source of signals are the HFDL (ARINC 635) signals the linl connection between aircrafts and ground stations
giving flight data. These data are also available the internet web pages.
The SORCERER software can read out these signals if the correct FREQ is given.

DSC Signals:
Also interesting source of signals are the DSC (Digital Selective Calling) signals the linl konnection between ships / vessels
and coastal stations giving position data or test signals. These data are also available the internet web pages.
The YADD software can read out these signals.

NATO Signals:
The other interesting source of signals are the STANAG 4285 signals, but here only a few are using ID for
identification. The SORCERER software and read the crypted with strange characters if the correct FREQ is given.

FAX Signals:
TELEFAX (FAX) is also still in use today and the transmissions are sending Weather Maps of all parts
of the world for Marine. The SORCERER software has also an option to run this decoder.
RTTY Signals:
The old TELEX (RTTY) is also still in use and the SORCERER software can also list the clear or
crypted text messages.
CW Signals:
The very old MORSE is also still in use and the SORCERER software and some others
(if you have not learned CW - Morse) can also list the clear or crypted text messages.
This is today mainly of the Russian fleets and military in use.
